KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Museum and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) through its Kadazandusun Chair and Borneo Heritage Research Unit will jointly organise a seminar and workshop on July 28-30 at G.C Woolley mini hall, Sabah Museum Complex here.
Sabah Museum director Joanna Kitingan said the programme entitled ‘The Museum and Sabah’s Heritage-Past, Present and Future’ aims to review the contributions of the museum in safeguarding and promoting Sabah’s heritage from the past to the present, and to set the vision and directions for its future development.
The objectives of the seminar among others is to inform the public of the complex functions of Sabah Museum, UMS and other institutions involved in managing the cultural, natural and historical heritage of Sabah, she said during a press conference yesterday.
And to enable Sabah Museum, UMS and these institutions to address the problems, issues and policies regarding the management and preservation of such holdings, she added.
The seminar is also hold to mark the 50th Golden Jubilee of Sabah Museum in July this year to review and reflect upon its role as a custodian of Sabah’s cultural, natural and historical heritage over the past five decades, said Joanna.-Sayangsabah
