KOTA KINABALU:  Graduates of 1975  of the College of Agriculture held a grand reunion dinner at a hotel here on yesterday.

They held this after a week  tour  of the State after the ‘belated graduates’ of 1974, 75 and 76 students whose convocation ceremony was only held 37 years later after they completed their courses while pending for the college to be elevated to university status.

The college is now known as Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM), said alumni Johnson Koh who is now the director of Oceanus Waterfront Mall.

Johnson who is the class of ‘74, said the tour was participated by 62 alumnus under the 1975 College of Agriculture of UPM Alumni.

Johnson recalled: “After many years of pestering and grumbles the then vice chancellor agreed to have the belated graduation with the former College of Agriculture principal Tan Sri Dr Rashdan Baba presenting the scrolls to some 180 ageing graduates witnessed by our children and grandchildren.”

Johnson who is also the president of Sabah Tennis Association said during the sojourn here, they visited Kinabalu Park, Kundasang and Sandakan.

He said reunion dinner had brought back many nostalgic memories for the alumnus.

Among the notable attendees included Sawit Kinabalu chief executive officer Datuk Osman Walat (class of ‘72), Sabah Rubber Industry Board chairman Datuk Ahmad Bujang (class of ’75), former State Agriculture Department director Datuk Ismail Salam and its current director Idrus Shafie.-By Sayangsabah
