SEPANGGAR: Cleaning and beautification projects can help to discard public negative perception on cemeteries.

The state Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Jainab Ahmad, said these projects will transform cemeteries into a park, and create awareness among the public, especially for the Muslim community.

“In this matter, we ask for village chiefs and JKKK committee leaders to often organize gotong-royong activities at the cemeteries area,” she said when met during the gotong-royong programme organized by Gudon Utara Neighbourhood Community at Kg. Gudon, here today.

Also present is the deputy officer of Unity and National Integration Department ((JPNIN), Sufian Samad, chairman of Gudon Utara Neighbourhood Community, Salim Brunei, and JPNIN committee members.

Jainab, who is also Karambunai State Assemblyman (ADUN), wants village chiefs and JKKK chairmen to cultivate awareness in transforming cemeteries into an organized community area.

I am asking for the cooperation of village chiefs and JKKK chairmen to work together in ensuring cemeteries to become beautiful, clean, and organized, besides from educating the volunteers generation to love the environment,” she said.

She added that a close cooperation among the communities in villages or housing area with their leaders is crucial to achieve this objective. – SayangSabah
