A merry CNY celebration expected

KOTA KINABALU: The MCA Penampang division will hold its 6th Chinese New Year 2015 Open house on February 20, at the multi-purpose hall of Kota Kinabalu High School in Kepayan here.

Its division chairman Datuk Paul Kong Sing Chu the  event to  start from 9.30am to 1pm on that day hoped to be as merry as the previous years.

“We expect to host VIPs, state dignitaries as well as  local community leaders to grace this auspicious event  which is expected to attract 5,000 people,” said Kong.

The VIPs list include the Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and wife Toh Puan Norlidah R.M. Jasni, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman and wife Datin Seri Panglima Hajjah Faridah Hj Tussin, State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Panglima Salleh Said Keruak and wife Datin Seri Panglima Hajjah Raya Erom, Mayor of Kota Kinabalu Datuk Abidin Madingkir, Penampang District officer Luvita Koisun.

Also in the list are several federal and state ministers, deputy and assistant ministers, members of Parliament, senators and state assemblymen from Sabah, he said adding that the MCA central and state leadership, are also expected to attend.

“Our guests will be entertained by acrobatic performance and shows by  troupes from China, Traditional lion dance provided by the world champions from SJK(C) Yick Nam, God of Fortune, several renounced singers from Sabah and many entertaining programmes, “said Kong.

All the guests will be provided with food, drinks, mandarin oranges and other Chinese new years tidbits.

As usual, the highlight of the event will be the distribution of angpows to the children and unmarried young people. Due to limited seats, he advised all the guests and public to come early before 10am.-By Bosco Wong/Sayangsabah
