KOTA KINABALU: Traffic police has issued 63 summons to road users for various traffic offences in the two roadblocks launched yesterday.
From the amount 40 summons are Pol 257 while another 23 are of Pol 170A category.
The roadblocks which was launched at 9.00pm Friday to 5.00am on Saturday at Jalan Lintas and Jalan Coastal were carried out by four officers, assisted by 19 traffic personnels, and 10 police volunteers.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, said about 39 vehicles including 10 motorcycles were inspected in the Ops ‘Roda, Mabuk, dan Samseng Jalanan’.
“Thirty nine drivers were ordered to undergo alcohol test, which led to 12 arrests for driving under alcohol influence,” he said in his statement.
According to him, all of the arrested drivers are investigated under Section 45A of Road Transportation Act 1987 for the offence of driving under alcohol influence.
“Meanwhile, another man were brought to the hospital for blood examination according to Section 45C of Road Transportation Act 1987,” he added.
He said, the authority has also identified the hotspot location for modified vehicles drivers.
“The identified location will be the focus of the enforcement authority in every launched operation,” he said.
He also said the number of cases involving street thugs in the district have been decreasing due to the Aggressive Policing programme implemented by the District Police Headquarters. – SayangSabah
