SEMPORNA: Marine Police has successfully seized 580 litres of petrol fuel worth RM1,798 believed to be smuggled out through Nusa Kuya sea route, here yesterday.
Sabah Marine Police Team (PPM) Commander, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Madun, said the raid according to Customs Act 1967 involves three separate cases in the same location around 12 until 12.30pm.
“About 10 personnels were carrying out their duty with PGR and disguised boats when they encountered three other boats at the area. Further inspection has found they are carrying the petrol fuel hidden inside the boats.
“The first boat carried six containers with 30 litres of petrol fuel for every container, while the second boat carried three 30-litre containers with four smaller containers holding 10 litres of petrol fuel.
“Nine containters were found in the third boat, holding 30 litres of petrol fuel in each. Four men aged 25 to 57 years old with three of them are the boat captains have been arrested for investigation,” he said.
He added the three boats and the engines are also seized, with a total net worth of seized items amounting to RM11,648. – SayangSabah
