KOTA KINABALU: The Community Mediator letter of appointment was bestowed on 47 individuals after they completed their training for Sabah and Federal Territory of Labuan Zone, this year.
Chief Director of National Integration and Unity Department of Malaysia (JPNIN), L. Gandesan, said mediators play an important role as ambassador to mediate and settle any issues among the communities.
“In Malaysia, Mediation Act 2012 has been passed with comprehensive details to ensure mediation process to be settled smoothly,” he said in his speech for the Sabah and Labuan Zone Community Mediator Induction Ceremony, here today
L. Gandesan said with the developing role of JPNIN in preserving public harmony and peace, any issues which may lead to conflict will not be compromised.
“I am confident with the diplomatic approach practiced by community mediators which is able to settle any disputes between two parties,” he added.
He also hopes for the mediators under JPNIN to be vigilant and always prepare to help the government in settling any disputes, in order to preserve ethnic harmony and peace. – SayangSabah
