More illegals arrested in KK

KOTA KINABALU: An inspection on 125 foreign nationals was carried out in an operation at two squatters settlements at Sukang Mabpai, Luyang, and Sembulan, Kota Kinabalu, today.

From the operation, 25 individuals were detained for not possessing any valid travelling passes, before they were sent to Centralized Lock-up for further investigation under Section 6 (1)(c) of Immigration Act 1959.

The operation launched at 4.00am until 12.30pm also arrested 17 men after being tested positive for drugs.

District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, said all of the suspects will be investigated under Section 15 (1)(a) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“Three police personnels and 118 officers from various enforcement authorities are involved in the operation, including the Police, Immigration Department, Rela, and National Registration Department,” he said in his statement, here today.

He said the operation will be continued to tackle illegal immigrant issues in the district.

“The operation is also to give confidence for the public where their reports and information regarding on illegal immigrants will be followed with immediate actions by the authority,” he added. – SayangSabah
