KOTA KINABALUL Sabah Governor, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, received a courtesy visit from Japan to Sabah Consul Department Chief, Hirofumi Morikawa, at the State Palace, this morning.
Hirofumi, who began his service in the state on June 2013 will be transferred to Medan, Indonesia, at the end of this month.
Several positive developments had been achieved during his service, including the increase in flight service from Kota Kinabalu to Tokyo, Narita, to three times per week.
The number of Japanese tourists visiting the state has also increased from 35,000 thousands in 2013 to 40,000 thousands last year.
“This shows that Kota Kinabalu is now more well-known in Japan as a popular tourist destination, and the number of Japaneses students in Sabah has also increased from 8 to 24students.
“There are also more Japanese restaurants in the state,” he said.
Tun Juhar also received a courtesy visit from Sabah Pharmaceutical Assistant Officer Association, led by its president, Yahya Ahmad.
The courtesy visit is to brief Tun Juhar on the organization’s role in welfare and awareness development for its members. – SayangSabah
