KUALA LUMPUR: The remand order on a former boyfriend of a woman who was found dead in an apartment in Cheras Utama, Cheras, last Friday, has been extended until next Monday.
Cheras district police chief ACP Chong Kok Sin said the suspect was arrested last Friday, after police found the body.
Since then, no other arrest was made in connection with the case, he said when contacted here today.
Chong said police had identified the victim as Tan Li Mei, 19, from Johor Bharu, Johor.
“The body was identified by her next-of-kin at 4.30 pm yesterday,” he added.
Police found the woman sprawled on the floor of the apartment last Friday following a tip-off. There were serious swelling on her face and body, as well as wounds, believed to have been inflicted with a hot iron, on her legs.
A post mortem report on the victim found that she had been abused for some time.- BERNAMA
