KOTA KINABALU: Sayfol Internatiional School Sabah had raised RM3,065 in a fortnight to be donated to the earthquake and flood victims in Ranau.
The donation was collected from the school teachers, staff and over 300 students from 30 different countries during a fund raising activity initiated by its headmistress Sandra Armentrout who had been working with children for the past 13 years in Southeast Asia.
The money was handed over to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Sabah (MRCS) planning and development chairman Philip Lai by Sandra during the school Monday morning assembly at Bukit Padang yesterday.
“The school recognise the uniqueness of the Sabah community and we wish to support these families to rebuild their lives,” said Sandra.
The school is saddened by the recent tragedy at Mount Kinabalu and the devastating effects on the communities in the Ranau area. Furthermore, the recent flash floods and landslides have interrupted the normal day to day lives throughout Ranau, Mesilou, Kundasang and villages in the area, she said.-Sayangsabah
