KOTA KINABALU: The 1Malaysia concept refers to culture-exchange and cooperation practiced by the communities and not limited only in the context of celebration.

The state Deputy Minister of Tourism,Culture and Environment, Datuk Kamarlin Ombi, said the public should stand united to preserve peace and stability in the country.

The uniqueness of Malaysia, he said, can be seen through the harmony enjoyed by various ethnics living together despite having different cultures.

”We can see this harmony when all races come together to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri and this also happen during Chinese New Year or Christmas,” he said during the Sabah Museum Raya Open House.

He also said the practice to visit each other should be preserved to strengthen the ethnic relations.

“While we celebrate Hari Raya, please continue this tradition which has been part of our culture. Take the opportunity as a platform where we forgive each other,” he said.

Strong family values that are preserved by the country’s citizens are important in shaping a closer cooperation for harmony, he added. -SayangSabah
