KOTA KINABALU: Three spectacular lion dance shows ushered in the lunar New Year for 1Borneo Hotel, an integral part of 1Borneo Hypermall, recently.
For the traditional Chinese the lion signifies courage, stability and superiority.
The lion dance performance is believe to be held to chase away ghosts and evil spirits with gongs and drums to accompany this performance.
The dance will have lions mimic various moods and demonstrate similar physical gestures allowing the lion to look life-like.
This performance combines history and martial art moves, and usually a total of 10 people are involved with this work of art.
The first performance at 1Borneo Hotel was held on the first day of the Lunar New Year, attracting many watchers to the hotel entrance that evening to enjoy the experience.
The second performance was on February 25, just before noon which ushered in a great amount of lunch crowd. After the performance, the hotel treated some 50 lion dance performance to a scrumptious lunch at the restaurant.
General Manager of 1Borneo Hotel, Jefveleon Rengga says: “We hope that the third and last lion dance performance that will be held at our hotel will bring in more crowd to share our celebration of the Lunar New Year with us and our guests”
The last lion dance performance will be held on March 5, 2015 at 2:00pm and the hotel encourages as many people as possible to come experience the excitement that this performance will offer.-Sayangsabah.
