Camps set up for Kg. Bangau-Bangau fire victims

SEMPORNA: the government is preparing a two-hectare site to set up camps and other temporary facilities for the 2,500 fire victims in Kg. Bangau-Bangau.

Senallang State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Nasir Sakaran, during his visit to the location said the government will continue to help the victims and provide temporary accommodations and facilities for them near the village.

Currently there are 150 camps have been set up by the government with the construction of other facilities are still on going, he added.

Accompanying Nasir in his visit were Semporna District Office, Dr. Chacho Bulah, ESSCOM Commander, Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun, and Semporna Parliamentary Liaison Officer, Hasbullah Raudah.

Nasir said, the facilities will include kitchens, toilets, and other basic facilities for the victims of the fire incident which occurred in 25 March.

Meanwhile, Chacho said his department is working with its census programme to identify the number of houses and residents affected by the fire to ensure the government aid supports are fairly distributed. – SayangSabah
