KOTA KINABALU: Sabah UMNO proves its programmes’ effectiveness in attracting new members from the young generation, where it has increased its membership to 536,232 from 522,519 members as of 31 December 2014.
Chief Minister who is also Sabah UMNO Liaison Chairman, Datuk Seri Musa Aman, said it is an increase of 13,713 new members compared to last year.
“UMNO branches have also increased to 5,540 from 5,504. This is the results of all quarters’ efforts including the Youths, Women, and Puteri (division),” he told reporters after chairing Sabah UMNO Liaison Meeting at UMNO Meeting Room, here yesterday.
Also present is his deputy, Datuk Seri Salleh Said, Sabah UMNO Liaison Secretary who is also Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Yahya Hussin, Sabah UMNO Division, Youths, Women, And Puteri division chiefs.
In the meeting Musa also announced the date for the branch level meeting which will begin at 13 March to 2 May.
He asks for all Sabah UMNO division chiefs to update the branches (UMNO) under their jurisdiction to ensure the meeting will proceed smoothly.
“I also want all UMNO branch that will participate in the meeting to follow the regulation and party constitution. It is important for us to improve our party through unity and cooperation,” he said.
Musa also urged for the Youths, Women, and Puteri wings to help in attracting more young generation, by collaborating with all quarters including Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties.
Also discussed in the meeting is the training programme for all UMNO members in the state which will begin tomorrow with the participation of 100 UMNO members from Kudat and Kota Belud.
Musa said, all divisions need to ensure their members to participate (in the programme).
Meanwhile, Sabah UMNO Chairman of the Training Bureau, Datuk Masidi Manjun, said the programme’s participants will be from all level of Sabah UMNO, where they will proceed with the programme in their own districts. – SayangSabah
