KOTA KINABALU:Some 113 immigrants including seven children believed to be illegals were detained and brought to Karamunsing Police Station for proper travel documents investigation.
The illegals,consisting of 82 Indonesians and 31 Filipinos, were arrested in the Ops PTI Bersepadu at 9.00am yesterday, launched at the construction sites in Kepayan.
Four officers and 178 personnels from various agencies including the police, National Registration Department (NRD), Immigration Department, special forces, Rela, and Malaysia Civil Defense Department joined the operation.
The District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said, from the search on all the immigrants, eight men were arrested for failing to show proper travel documents.
“The authority arrested the eight men which are five Filipinos and three Indonesians, to be sent to the centralized lock-up for further investigation,” he said here, yesterday.
The case will be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of Immigration Act 1959.
“Ops Nyah Sabah will continue in the future to curb the illegals and squatters problem around Kota Kinabalu.
According to him, the operation is also launched as a support for the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) regarding on the illegal immigrants in the state. – SayangSabah
