SEMPORNA: Education Department (PPD) needs to double its efforts in improving the quality of education in the district to be on par with other districts in the state.

Semporna UMNO Youth Political Bureau of Education/Speech, Dr. Mohd. Faizal Hisam, said PPD needs to increase its programmes for the development of education in the district.

“There are many programmes that can be done to improve the quality of education among the students, such as today’s Language Carnival. And I hope for PPD to organize more programmes to ensure the students are exposed with activities that will cultivate their commitment to study,” he said in his speech for the launching of Semporna Language Carnival 2015, here today.

Mohd. Faizal said, the launching of the carnival is in line with the vision of producing more competitive and highly intellectual students, as well as upholding the Malay language and improving the proficiency of students in the district in English language.

The six-day carnival which is first organized by Semporna PPD was participated by more than 1,000 students from 30 primary and secondary schools in five competition category such as story-telling, speech, and pantun. -SayangSabah
