DR LINDAI LEE BRING SMILES TO TWO CHARITY HOMES IN SANDAKAN

SANDAKAN: Residents and staff of Sri Harapan Old Folks’ Home and Sabah Cheshire Home have plenty to smile about when about 20 volunteers from Batu Sapi Rakyat Service Centre handed mooncakes and contributions on Saturday, here.

The Mooncake Festival Charity Visit Programme was led by Batu Sapi MP cum Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong’s wife Datin Dr Lindai Lee.

Sabah Cheshire Home and Services (Sandakan) Assistant Manager Ermawati Rannong said currently they really appreciate the visit and grateful for the contributions.

“This really help to lessen our burdens,” she said, adding there are currently 19 staff and 23 residents at the Home here.

“We provide care and shelter for persons with disabilities,” she said, adding that their operations virtually depend on public donations.

Sabah Cheshire Home (Sandakan) is a non-profitable organisation and had been operating since July 2000. Those wishing to contribute may contact their office at 089- 227 716 or 011-15975290.

Meanwhile, Sri Harapan Old Folks Home officer in-charge Roslan Mohammad said they greatly needed financial assistance as they planned to set up a recreational centre for residents to conduct daily activities.

“We have done the calculation and we need about RM30,000 of fund to build the centre,” he said, adding that those who interested to donate may contact him at 089-222 058.-SabahNewsToday
