KOTA KINABALU: Members of the Cabinet Special Committee on the Implementation of the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63) and Status of Sabah and Sarawak will be announced during the government 100-day mark.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Liew Vui Keong, said the proposed names have been submitted to the federal Cabinet.
“It has been finalised and I will make the announcement when we reach the 100-day mark, which is two weeks from now,” he said met after witnessing the handing over ceremony of the new Kota Kinabalu Court Complex to the State judiciary in Bukit Punai here today.
The de facto Law Minister had been entrusted to chair the committee, which among others would be scrutinising and see if the MA63 has been implemented in a fair manner.
Another task was to zero in on Article 1 (2) of the Federal Constitution, which upon amendment following the departure of Singapore from the Federation of Malaysia, had reduced the status of Sabah and Sarawak to a state.
Prior to the amendment, Sabah, Sarawak and the Federation of Malaya were equal partners in the Federation of Malaysia.-SabahNewsToday
