KOTA KINABALU: Kimanis MP, Datuk Seri Anifah Aman is willing to support the motion that will restore Sabah and Sarawak status in the Federation of Malaysia should it be tabled in Parliament.
“I welcome Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir’s statement that the Federal Government has agreed to restore the status of Sabah and Sarawak in accordance to Malaysia Agreement 1963 which is the basis of the establishment of this country 55 years ago.
“As a Sabahan and Member of Parliament for P. 176 Kimanis, I am very excited and ready to give full support as well as seek other members of parliament to support this proposal should it be tabled in Parliament as this is what we in Sabah and Sarawak have been fighting for,” he said in a statement here today.
Anifah believed his opposition colleagues from Sabah and Sarawak would be ready to support this proposal as long as it is indeed in accordance with the Malaysian Agreement 1963 for the prosperity and well-being of our people.
On the payment of oil royalty, the Federal Government should take the necessary steps to acknowledge the intent and spirit of MA63, he said.
“Only after agreeing to it then we can further negotiate on the quantum of payment. This has to be done for the benefit of the people in Sabah and Sarawak. The Federal Government led by Pakatan Harapan today should immediately begin the move to implement MA63 without delay or excuses,” he said.-SabahNewsToday
